loti eats | señor ceviche

There used to be a time when you would struggle to find good Peruvian food in London but those days seem to be well and truly gone. Señor Ceviche is one of the restaurants helping the cause as they’ve recently opened a second site on Charlotte Street. Like the original spot in Kingly Court, it’s all about ceviche, Peruvian BBQ and pisco, with this site having the added extra of an underground pisco bar as well as a small front terrace and airy mezzanine dining area.

Even if you don’t head downstairs for a drink, you really can’t be having Peruvian food without pisco so kick things off with a passionfruit pisco sour – whilst you try and decide what to order. The menu isn’t huge and everything’s designed to be shared but we still massively struggled to whittle it down as everything genuinely sounds great. Go with a group (or just very, very hungry) and order as much as you can because there isn’t a dud on there.

We’d defo recommend the chifa chicharrones (super crispy pork belly covered in a sticky, sweet glaze), the Charlotte Street special of grilled lamp rump and the incredibly moreish charred cabbage with burnt butter and garlic miso. And as you’d expect from a restaurant with ceviche in the name, the ceviches are superb. The signature señor ceviche, with sea bass, octopus and crispy squid, is classic whereas the nikkei version draws on Japanese flavours with yellowfin tuna, yuzu and ponzu.

And if you can’t wait until lunchtime for a ceviche fix, Señor Ceviche has just launched a bottomless brunch menu complete with unlimited Pisco Punch. We like the sound of that.
