With nine sites across London, The Daisy Green Collection are well known for bringing a slice of Aussie culture to the capital with their quirky cafes and restaurants. Their latest opening, Scarlett Green in Soho, follows suit serving award-winning brunches throughout the day and cocktails and dinner in the evening. It’s got two floors and a very trendy but subtle tropical decor, and the atmosphere is laid-back and relaxed, with a DJ playing music from 4pm daily, taking it from cafe to ideal post-work drinks hang-out.

The menu includes a mix of Australian small plates or BBQ dishes with sides. We kicked things off with a few dishes from the single bites menu, our fave being the Vegemite, cheese and truffle doughnut. From the small plates menu we tried the halloumi fries, which came with a pomegranate yogurt for dipping, and the sea bream ceviche with tiger’s milk, crunchy corn, sweet potato and coriander, washed down with a reisling from the largest Australian wine list in London.

From the BBQ menu we would recommend putting a shrimp on the barbie and trying the hot Bondi prawns in secret Scarlett sauce, and get some twice cooked duck fat chips and the bitter leaf salad to sit on the side. If you have a sweet tooth be sure to order the Melbourne mars bar cheesecake ball for dessert, which is every bit as good as it sounds.

Following in the footsteps of its sister sites, Scarlett Green is setting the standard very high for authentic Australian cuisine, something that can be tricky to find in London. It also reserves half of its tables for walk-ins so you can always be sure of bagging a table.
