LOTI EATS | ROGUES LONDON

Rogues London should have started their residency at Hackney Coffee Company by now but lockdown hit and so it wasn’t to be. But like all good restaurant businesses, they pivoted and pivoted fast, switching to a takeaway business serving a small menu of just three killer breakfast sandwiches and one sweet dish from Friday through Sunday AKA the days you’re most likely to be hungover.

Headed up by Zac Whittle and Freddie Sheen, Rogues started life as a travelling pop-up and whilst their evening food may be more refined, it’s clear from tasting their goods that these boys understand flavours, textures and what makes a banging sandwich. Our favourite was the sausage crumpet stack with black pudding, preserved pickled walnut ketchup (like a posh HP), preserved tomatoes and crispy shallots. The slow poached egg sandwich offers more than the sum of its parts, as do the waffles with cheesecake cream and jam.

For the best possible experience we can fully recommend eating them whilst hungover, taking shelter in the alleyway next door. When lockdown restrictions apply, you gotta do what you gotta do! Based on this evidence we’re looking forward to seeing what they do once the doors open…
