Clean eating is all the rage these days and we’ve seen a spate of veggie specials for National Vegetarian Week but the Oxo Tower has gone the whole (meat free) hog, they have launched an all new vegetarian menu. Now we’re not vegetarian – we couldn’t fathom missing out on a good old bacon butty – but we do appreciate good food, meat or veg. The new menu is the creation of Head Chef Jeremy Bloor, who is hailing the parsnip, broad bean, courgette flower, spring onion, and sweet potato as the heroes of his cooking.

What will impress you first is the presentation; it’s knockout with the bold colours and textures looking like works of art. The garden herb risotto ball is Jackson Pollock’ed with wild garlic, peas, and almond cream. The sweet potato pancake was probably our fave served with Cornish Brie and kumquat marmalade. Even the tofu dish with walnut and Spenwood cheese crumble was a winner and yes, if we went back, we’d order it again…who’d of thought it?

Ending on a vegan blood orange and poppy seed syrup cake meant we were done. Besides the excitement of the food, you’ve got a rather spectacular view from the 8th floor of the Oxo Tower looking right over the river. Put a spring in your step with this green, clean and very mean vegetarian menu at Oxo Tower.
