loti eats | old st records cafe

The newly opened Old St Records Cafe, part of the Old Street Records cocktail bar, comes loaded with a deli menu inspired by Manhattan’s sandwich culture. We all love a good sandwich, especially because they work any time of day and OSR Cafe have got bonafide winners on their hands. The breakfast menu features bacon, sausage, egg and cheese as their main ingredients and they do hit the spot. The ‘S.E.C’ – pork sausage patty, egg over medium, cheddar cheese and honey mustard aioli – is a solid sarnie packed into a brioche bun and it puts a smile on your face alright. If you’re not feeling the meat then their ‘Fairfax’ is for you; scrambled eggs, cheddar cheese, burnt onion and Sriracha sauce, and it’s damn tasty.

Their lunch menu changes up the game with more strong players on the list. Their Reuben with salt beef, sauerkraut, Swiss cheese and Russian dressing, is a beaut with all that Swiss cheese bursting out. Another winner is their Harlem Shack; grilled chicken, jerk mayo, slaw and pickles…it’s got the right amount of crunch, it’s sweet and sour and packed full of flavour. There are still a few we want to get our hands on, like their lobster roll (drooling) and NYC cheese, because more cheese is better than just cheese.
