The small Italian steak and pasta place La Tagliata has been ticking along in Spitalfields for a good few years now however only recently did they decided to take the plunge, amid the current pasta trend, and open up a site more central in Fitzrovia. Like the original, the sister site has a simple menu that features authentic Italian dishes such as the I Gamberi alla fra’ diavolo or spicy king prawns with tomato lobster sauce to you and me, and one of the highlights of our dinner.
Pasta-wise there are eight options but in keeping with the authentic, simple Italian theme we played it safe with Le Tagliatelle al ragu, homemade long egg pasta with bolognese sauce and it didn’t disappoint. Whilst the il pollo ripieno, a breaded chicken breast stuffed with Gorgonzola cheese and pancetta brought back childhood memories of chicken Kievs – only a touch posher than old Captain Birds Eye.

So if you fancy reliving that holiday romance or from Italy and fancy a taste of home La Tagliata is a great spot for a traditional Italian food fix.
