Italian restaurant Fat Tony’s first popped up in Bar Termini Centrale back at the beginning of March and was so popular it’s now become a permanent feature, opening for lunch and dinner Tuesday to Saturday. Bar Termini Centrale, inspired by old Italian railway stations and owned by Tony Conigliaro, is known for its coffee and cocktails and now it’s adding fresh pasta to that list.
Chef James French has used both his travelling experiences and time in a Michelin-starred kitchen to create a short menu of simple, authentic Italian dishes. To start we had the burrata with olive oil and the octopus, potato and nduja. Taking recommendations from the chef, we then went for the bucatini cacio e pepe and the beef shin ragu pappardelle, which definitely didn’t disappoint. Save space for dessert though, the chocolate torta with whipped cream and pistachios is a must. And in true Italian fashion, wash it all down with the Spritz Termini, a potent mix of gin, rhubarb, aperol and prosecco.
