Ellory is gone, reincarnated in Shoreditch as wine bar Leroy and in its place is Bright, the new wine bar from the people behind Clapton’s P Franco and Noble Liquor. Set on the ground floor of Netil House, the restaurant looks pretty similar to before – it’s modern, stripped back and bright – but the food is less fussy and the wine is au naturel.
We worked our way through the menu, the highlights of which were an incredible sweet, sour tomato, olive & marjoram salad, the fluffy pizza fritta that’s less heavy than it reads, and THAT katsu sando, seen on many a ‘gram feed (guilty) – delicious but a little too chewy from the meat fat. The wine list is all natural and there’s plenty of funk and sediment to get the wine buffs excited. We sampled a tasty orange wine and a red on tap.
[easy-image-collage id=113858]Luckily Bright sits JUST on the right side of the too-cool-for-school fence and whilst service can be a little snooty, it’s a great addition to London Fields. It’s the perfect place for a first date and a decent place to go for a quiet drink in the area away from the carnage of Broadway Market. Man we’re getting old.
