LOTI EATS: BOMBETTA

bombetta-loti

Bombetta is a cosy new Italian restaurant right next to Snaresbrook tube station; and if you’re wondering where on earth that is, you’ll be pleasantly surprised to hear (as we were) that it’s only 15 mins on the central line from Liverpool Street. We went out there one weekend, and after a brisk winter walk around the southern tip of Epping Forest, we were glad to take refuge in Bombetta, with a glass or two of Italian red and some rustic Pugliese home cooking.

The bombette are the main event here, juicy bundles of meat stuffed with cheese and herbs and cooked over the charcoal grill. We liked the pork stuffed with truffle pecorino wrapped in prosciutto but it was the chicken with taleggio and duck speck that was the winner for us. There were some great simple starters too – creamy Burratina with Sicilian semi-roasted tomatoes, and a very autumnal Orecchiette pasta with wild mushrooms and truffle butter. Don’t miss the vanilla panna cotta for dessert either.
