LOTI EATS (AT HOME) | FRENCHIE

Frenchie at Home launched in Gregory Marchand’s home town of Paris a few weeks back and now you can get it in London too! Delivering within a three mile radius of the Covent Garden restaurant Wednesday – Sunday, the Frenchie at Home set menu costs £45, plus a rather hefty £14 delivery charge (collection is free however).

Before we talk about the food, we have to give full marks to Frenchie for the packaging. The bespoke boxes designed by Tiptoque not only look the part, with their origami-like intersecting blades, but they also mean zero washing up – the boxes fold out into plates so you can eat the dish straight out the packaging! They can even go in the oven, so when it comes to heating up the main course you don’t even need to dirty an oven tray.

First up on the menu is a signature snack from the restaurant, the parmesan gougères, which are just as delicious at home as they are at Frenchie. Then there’s the a starter which has the slightly unusual combination of smoked ricotta, strawberry, pea, onions, and chive mayonnaise. The individual ingredients were fantastic but we’re not quite sure if they all worked together to be honest.

The main course, however, was an unqualified success – tender brioche and herb stuffed chicken with asparagus, jersey royals, broad beans and datterini tomatoes, plus a rich chicken jus. To finish there’s a beautiful pistachio and raspberry frangipane tart, raspberry sauce, meringue plus a couple of brown butter madeleines.

For the quality of cooking, ingredients and the ease of preparing the last couple of bits at home, Frenchie at Home was a big success. We’re not sure why it’s £14 for delivery but it’s good motivation to get on that bike and go and collect it yourself if you fancy trying it!
