LOTI EATS (AT HOME) | BOMBAY BUSTLE

Mayfair’s Bombay Bustle has adapted during Covid-19 by offering a menu of restaurant-quality Indian food via Uber Eats and Deliveroo. We’ve tried and tested restaurants doing this with Lahpet, Madame Pig, Jose Pizarro, Benares and Hot 4 U and having visited Bombay Bustle for brunch back in the days when you could go to a restaurant, we couldn’t wait to have a go.

There’s always a bit of a worry about what the food will look like by time a delivery turns up but our Indian feast arrived intact in recyclable cardboard bowls. As Bombay Bustle draws inspiration from the tiffin-wallahs of Mumbai, we would have loved to see actual tiffin boxes being used, but the restaurant is donating a percentage of sales to The Nutan Mumbai Tiffinbox Suppliers Charity Trust.

The food however was as good as we’d hoped. The Prawn Balchao with Goan palm vinegar and sun-dried chilli was just on the right side of spicy for us, and the mighty addictive Bambaiya Ragda, a crispy potato patty with peas and tamarind chutney, was also a standout. The Recheado Fish Tikka with Goan spices was probably our fave though; soft and delicate fish but packed with mountains of flavour.

Bombay Bustle really delivers when it comes to flavour and it definitely felt like a step up from the local, so if you’re looking to splurge on a takeaway treat then this is the one.
