london’s first floating park is coming

The Garden Bridge may be stuck in development but London will be getting a new green space, except it’ll be floating on the water rather than towering over it. Yes plans for the city’s first floating park have been approved and it’s expected to burst into life in Paddington Basin this spring. Open year-round and designed by Tony Woods, the 730sqm ‘pocket park’ will consist of interlocking pontoons made of recycled materials split into three areas; a main section with walkways, seating, lawns and Tibetan cherry trees, an events and installation venue, and a ‘no humans’ zone for our feathered friends. There’ll also be canal boat moorings so you can buy your lunch off any boat-based traders and wi-fi so you can work al fresco too.

Opens May 2017
