Here’s your London weather debrief for this week and our tips on how to make the most of the sunshine during the heatwave
LONDON WEATHERWe were all so sure that we’d make it out of summer without another heatwave, but we were wrong. At this point, we’ve given up on being surprised at the twists and turns London weather takes – surely even the world’s top meteorologists struggle to predict them. So here we are, at the very end of what has been an altogether underwhelming summer of tepid temps and torrential downpours, with a heatwave. (On the bright side, at least the city’s looking very green – it was significantly more arid this time last year.)
London weather is set to reach highs of 31°C this week, the likes of which we haven’t seen since the first (and, until now, only) heatwave of the summer all the way back in June. Since it’s already September, we’re starting to run out of daylight hours, so make the most of the sun being out post-work with dinner or drinks at some of the city’s best suntraps. You’ll be happy to hear that those hot, sunny days will last until the weekend too when it’ll be slightly cooler (with highs of 28°C – we did say *slightly*), but the sun will still be shining. So cool off on your days off by eating some of London’s best ice creams, taking a dip at one of these swimming spots (before they close for the year) and/or sinking a pint in a sun-soaked beer garden.
