The London Mural Festival Is Returning This September

Its debut was such a hit that it’s back for round two

The city’s going to become one big canvas this September as the London Mural Festival is coming back after some time away. The event is organised by London-based mural painting organisation Global Street Art and was announced back in December when a 286m² portrait of Rembrandt suddenly popped up in Hackney.

This festival debuted in 2020 when work from the likes of Camille Walala, Dale Grimshaw, Marija Tiurina, Gary Stranger, Mr. Cenz, Bonzai, Suiko and Zabou was displayed across 75 locations in 13 boroughs.

The first wave of names on the 2024 programme are some of the world’s best talent, including Aches, eL Seed, D*Face, Marija Tiurina, Rosie Woods, Sebas Velasco and Seb Lester, but with over 100 murals featuring in the fest, you can expect lots more to be announced. As well as all the art to explore, there’ll be a ton of events to get involved in too, like a pop-up in Shoreditch where you can have a go at spray painting, an interactive illustrated map of London by Angry Dan that you can take pieces from, collaborative community mural painting, calligraphy workshops and street art tours.

About the London Mural Festival, Lee Bofkin, CEO and co-founder of Global Street Art, said: “The festival is an expression of the deep love we carry for this city and the work of artists who help make it such a colourful metropolis. We’re really excited to announce more artists to the line-up in due course.”
