What do you know about wine…we know it gives us an awful bloody hangover sometimes and it also goes well with food. But ever spent a day on a vineyard? Well, now you can get a taste of the good life without having to leave London with London Cru and central London’s first winery!

London Cru is a fully-functioning winery in Earl’s Court, sitting on the site of an old gin distillery and is about to open its doors to the public on Saturday 9th November with the launch of their public tours and a range of foodie events.

Around 25 tonnes of grapes have already arrived from France and Italy. This fruit has been sorted, pressed and the juices are now fermenting in tanks and barrels, ready to be made into London’s first commercially available wine; around 18,000 bottles of it. As well as being a fully functional winery, London Cru will operate as a visitor attraction and event space for those who want to find out more about wine. It’s the first time anything like this has been available in London.

Now we’ve got a special treat, you and one other person could win the chance to experience a day in the life of a winemaker with this exciting competition with London Cru. The day will begin with a tour of London Cru and a tasting of wines from the barrel, better have breakie then! Then participants will be taken through the entire wine making process, from the delivery of the grapes, to triage on the sorting table, crushing, pressing and tank fermenting. Then the fun really starts, when budding winemakers will get to blend their own wine, which will be bottled for them to take home and enjoy that evening.

The day will also include a two-course ‘London Cru lunch’ with wine, dished up in Gastropub ‘The Atlas’, which is just across the road.
