From expert distillers and vintners to women empowering the industry by setting up their own craft beer companies, here’s a round up of the women you need to know about and the drinks you should start sipping…
Mothership’s Codebreaker IPA
Mothership, founded by Jane Frances LeBlond, is an all-female beer collective that champions women in the craft beer industry. Their smooth and juicy Codebreaker IPA is not only a nod to WW2 hero Joan Clarke but also one of the beers that features in their Extraordinary Women series.
Sacred Spirit’s London Dry Vodka
Co-founded by Hilary Whitney, this independent distillery based in Highgate produces award-winning spirits. The London Dry Vodka is the only London dry vodka in the world and it’s distilled with botanicals including cubeb, fresh-cut citrus & frankincense.
Quantock Brewery’s Dreams of Freedom
Cheryl Ford, co-founder of Quantock Brewery, has a love for brewing as well as for supporting women owned breweries from all around the world. The Dreams of Freedom is a tropical yet fruity brew with huge flavours and a beaut can.
NICE Wine’s Pale Rose
Founded by Lucy Wright, NICE wine has revolutionised the industry. These canned vegan wines come in Malbec, Sauvignon Blanc and Rosé – fitting in your fridge as well as in your handbag. Plus they’re nice to the planet by being 100% recyclable.
SIS4TERS DISTILLERY Gin
This family business founded by four sisters is passionate about creating beautiful gin. Their range includes a signature gin, four infused flavoured gins (each sister championing their own flavour) and new gin & tonic cans. We love the sweet, but not too sweet, strawberry & elderflower.
Giffords Hall Rose Wine
Giffords Hall is a English country vineyard owned and managed by Linda Howard. She focuses less on following the trends and more on producing quality wines that last the test of time. And even though they only have one rosé in their collection, it’s a real stunner.
Merser’s Double Barrel Rum
Co-owner of Merser Rum, Miranda Hayman, is on a mission to champion women in distilling. Their rum captures the best of the Caribbean but blends them in London’s only rum blending house. It’s seriously delish, featuring lots of vanilla notes and oaky tones too.
Sipful’s Canned Cocktails
Co-founder of Sipful, Emily Darwell, quit her job to commit her time to changing the cocktail industry. And yep, she’s done it. These canned cocktails are made with 100% fruit and organic wine, plus the packaging is completely recyclable too. We love the orange mimosa, it’s the perfect 5pm sip.
