Nobody in their right mind dislikes animal artwork. That’s why Ally McIntyre’s new exhibition at Jealous East is firmly on our list. McIntyre’s fifth solo exhibition at the gallery, Warm At Last, features a new series of large-scale paintings with a deeper exploration of wildlife, this time utilising the foreground as a vehicle for processing the artist’s emotions through her practice. Not just animal play but a more serious reflection on grief, loss and the healing power of nature, McIntyre began creating much of the work during the pandemic, which in her words, ‘came at a time when I was processing a loss: Loss of loved ones, loss of routine, loss of structure.’
