With Japanese Women Photographers: From 1950s to Now, The Photographers’ Gallery is helping rebalance the narrative of Japanese photography by centring 27 women working in the field over the last 70+ years. The featured photographers and their work (over 200 photographs, videos, installations and rare photobooks will be on display) provide an expansive portrait of Japan and how it’s seen by the world, and showcase the way that women artists have challenged conventions and captured social change.
