Best-selling author Zadie Smith is making her playwriting debut with The Wife of Willesden, where she transports Chaucer’s The Wife of Bath into modern-day North West London – Alyson has been turned into Alvita, a Jamaican-British woman in her mid-50s who’s bold, brash and a bit of a local legend, and the Kiln Theatre itself has been turned into the Sir Colin Campbell pub, so get ready to hear her tale over a pint or two.
