Noah Davis, who died in 2015, was one of the most original painters working in recent years and became known for his figurative paintings that explored Black life. He also co-founded The Underground Museum in Arlington Heights, LA to give people in the community free access to world-class art. His desire to ‘represent the people around me’ led him to create pieces featuring people sleeping, dancing, diving and enjoying art that uncovered the emotional textures of the everyday. Over 50 of his works across painting, sculpture, installation and curation, produced between 2007 – 2015, will be on show in the exhibition.
