Sylva, tucked away in Folkestone Gardens in Deptford, is a super cute little spot. Run by chef Shuli Wimer (ex River Café), the food is produce-led based on the co-owner produce supplier Smith & Brock. There’s not an avocado in sight. Instead you’ll find spinach çılbır with poached eggs, yoghurt and harissa, and Wimer’s own spin on arayes, made using yesterday’s bread and filled with spiced minced beef rather than the usual pitta. The seasonal baked buns are worth the trip alone, we loved the cherry and almond, alongside a tahini bun and a chocolate bun or her seasonal cakes which sell out super early. Grab a table outside overlooking the park, or tuck into the light-filled conservatory if the weather’s not playing along, and pair it all with a Fresh OJ Campari or a garden herb G&T. Open until 8pm now too.
