Tate Modern’s exhibition ‘Soul of a Nation: Art in the Age of Black Power’ brings together the works of African-American artists between 1963- 1983. Marked by Martin Luther King, Malcolm X, Angela Davis, Black Power rallies and a struggle for change, the period saw a change in American art as artists responded to the times by provoking, confronting, and confounding expectations. Expect paintings, murals, collage, photography, clothing designs and sculptures made with Black hair, melted records, and tights.
