With the Ai Weiwei: A New Chapter exhibition, Lisson Gallery is showcasing new works by the celebrated artist, which present a dialogue between past and present. Alongside installations made out of buttons, WWII military stretchers and tents that reflect on themes of existence, disappearance and the weaving of historical narratives, there are numerous pieces made of out Lego. These reinterpretations of famous works, like Van Gogh’s ‘Wheatfield With Crows’ and Paul Gauguin’s ‘Where Do We Come From? What Are We? Where Are We Going?’, with contemporary features like drones, show historical artworks can reflect current society.
