Piquet, from chef Allan Pickett, is one London joint you’ll want to spend your hard-earned dollar in. With all the trends for sharing plates or single dish restaurants sometimes its so nice to just come in somewhere and have an amazing meal of Starter, Main and Dessert (and cheese of course) and Piquet does this in absolute style.
The cooking is a mix of classic French and British in style and choosing what to have is no easy feat. We loved everything from start to finish but highlights were pressed suckling pig with prunes, black pudding and cauliflower puree; pot roast partridge with pickled cherries, chervil root and dandelion leaves; and scallops with pickled cucumber and squid ink. To finish, its impossible not to have the cheese selection from the trolley, which we spotted as soon as we came in, plus the dessert of pear and red wine tatin with cinnamon ice cream is an absolute winner.
Service was some of the best we’ve had, with fantastic wine recommendations to go with each course. Also, take our tip and ask for a table near the kitchen pass where you’ll be able to watch Allan and his team at work.
