OLDROYD is the first solo restaurant from former Chef Director of the Polpo Group, Tom Oldroyd. Located on Upper Street in Islington in what’s best described as a “cosy” venue the restaurant serves a daily changing menu of seasonal ingredients.
When the owner’s background is the Polpo group, you wouldn’t expect anything less than an Italian inspired menu and this one doesn’t disappoint. The Christmas set menu (£39 for 3 courses or £58 for the menu + a wine pairing) has no hint of traditional festive offerings, instead presenting a salmon tartare, a Hereford Beef fillet with grilled polenta and a prune and Armagnac tart.
