Contemporary Chilean cooking has come to London with Mareida. The Fitzrovia restaurant, opened by Prenay Agarwal, looks the part – dark, striking and decorated with rocks shipped over from Chile – with the menu celebrating the flavours of the Andean South. Head Chef Nico Einersen (ex-Dorian) and Head Pastry Chef Marcelo Peláez (ex-99 Restaurante) are leading the kitchen, cooking dishes like lobster empanadas; red carrots with Chilean hazelnuts and ricotta; hamachi crudo with beetroot and grapefruit; trout with sobrasada and lentils; and ribeye steak with carmenere. This is a restaurant where you’ll wanna save room for dessert as the offering includes honey flan, avocado and chocolate, and a bergamot, rica rica and meringue dish. And given Chile is a big wine region, the list is full of great bottles.
