The theme of this year’s London Design Biennale at Somerset House is ‘The Global Game: Remapping Collaborations’, so exhibitors from over 40 countries will be showing concepts and projects that offer insight to and solutions for the global challenges of the day, and highlight how design can foster international co-operation and make the world a better place to live. Works include a village square made from fabric in the Somerset House courtyard from Malta, traditional Bedouin weaving from Abu Dhabi, a mixed reality traditional Korean garden from South Korea, and window installation from Poland in reference to the country’s donation of windows to Ukraine – the Adam Mickiewicz Institute and the BRDA Foundation will then send the windows used for the exhibition to demolished Ukrainian cities to help people rebuild their homes. This year there’ll also be a Eureka exhibition running alongside London Design Biennale, showcasing design-led innovation from leading research centres.
