This exhibition at Japan House explores the work of the Yoshioka Dyeing Workshop in Kyoto and how natural dyeing techniques are used to express kasane – the language of Japanese colour combinations. The Japanese have a strong appreciation of colour, nature and the changing of the seasons and the Living Colours display showcases the way that the layering of colours can be used to communicate.
