Jordnær is the hot new ticket in town, having been awarded three Michelin stars in the 2024 guide. It’s an incredible experience, led by husband and wife team Tina and Eric Vildgaard who deliver a largely seafood-focussed menu across a multitude of courses, including langoustine, crab and generous helpings of caviar. The succession of snacks that start the menu are insanely good and worth the trip alone. And while we’re talking of trips, it’s important to know that Jordnær is located in Gentofte just outside Copenhagen (but only a quick train ride away), and that it’s located in a rather basic quiet hotel – not where you’d normally expect to find a three Michelin star restaurant hiding! Part of the reason is that Eric and Tina totally self funded this restaurant and this was the most affordable option when they opened in 2017. Now of course, people flock here from all over and it’s one of the city’s hardest-to-score reservations. As with everything in Copenhagen, Jordnær is not cheap, but if you are looking to do one big blow-out meal on your trip, this is well worth adding to the list.
