The Bush Theatre is hosting a special birthday season in honour of turning the big 50 and the first production to hit the stage is House of Ife. Written by Ethiopian-British writer Beru Tessema and directed by the Bush Theatre’s Artistic Director Lynette Linton, the play is an exploration of what it means to belong and the impact that secrets can have on a family. Ife, the eldest son of the family, has suddenly died, causing the head of the family to travel from Ethiopia to North London for the funeral resulting in tensions rising and cultures clashing.
