The debut solo restaurant from chef Max Rocha (yes that Rocha – fashion designers John and Simone are his dad and sister) was one of the most anticipated openings of 2021. Cafe Cecilia sits by the canal just off Broadway Market in a bright, open and minimal space with some industrial elements. In the past, Rocha has worked for the likes of The River Cafe, Spring and St John Bread and Wine, and ran a takeaway service from A Flower Shop on Chatsworth Road during lockdown(s). Now, he’s built three menus of his own for Cafe Celicia – breakfast, lunch and dinner – that include dishes like black pudding with poached egg & plum ketchup; ricotta agnolotti with sage butter; pork braised in milk, lemon & sage with fresh coco beans; and bread & butter pudding – and we definitely recommend the sage and anchovy fritti.
