Contra, the tasting menu spot from the Wild Air boys Fabian and Jerimiah, closed in 2023 after a successful decade. The pair kept the space though and it’s now been reborn as Bar Contra. As the name suggests, this is a more casual drinks-led offering, and they’ve teamed up with their friend Dave Arnold to create the cocktail list which includes drinks like the Saltair – umeboshi tequila and lime, and served with a mini Corona beer bottle. On the food front, there are some awesome snacks. Don’t miss the chicken wing stuffed with stilton and pork sausage; the devilled egg with smoked eel; and the cracker jack ice cream bar (aka a posh Snickers ice cream).
