Sophie Green, known for her hyperrealistic animal paintings, is showing pieces from her latest ‘Commodities’ collection at The Saddest Show on Earth exhibition at The Vaults. The show features works that depict exploited and commodified animals, like tigers, snow leopards, chimpanzees, polar bears and elephants sitting on plinths. It serves as a critique of humanity’s exploitation of wildlife, at a time when wildlife trafficking is a $20 billion illegal industry affecting over 4,000 animal and plant species, and more than half a million wild animals are being used in tourist attractions worldwide. A percentage of sales from the exhibition will be donated to The Commodities Project Fund set up by Sophie to support conservation charities and foundations.
