Pitched up on the South Bank is Applebee’s Fish pop-up bar and restaurant. Applebee’s has been going since the late nineties, though this is its first pop-up, and just a stone’s throw away from the river Thames, it’s offering some of the best fish and chips (and views) in the capital. With a dedicated champagne and oyster bar, there is plenty about this that rocks, along with a games sandpit, craft beer, cocktails on tap and live performances from some of the best buskers around. The food menu is banging, with small bites of super fresh seabass ceviche as well as tuna and salmon tartare. The panko prawns with homemade kimchi mayonnaise are insane and of course the star of the show is everybody’s favourite seaside treat, fish and chips, made with a sustainably sourced cod fillet deep-fried in an extremely light and crispy harbour beer batter. Washed down with Goring Sparkling Wine and Champagne Collet it’s a treat at the seaside (well, river) for one and all.
