LLEWELYN’S IN HERNE HILL TO OPEN SISTER WINE BAR LULU’S

Herne Hill fave Llewelyn’s is getting a little sister this December as wine bar and shop Lulu’s is set to open next door. Executive Chef Lasse Petersen (ex-Westerns Laundry, Moro and Amass in Copenhagen) will be heading up the kitchen, with GM Will Weir curating the eclectic wine list. By day, Lulu’s will run a weekly changing menu, featuring fresh pastries and Origin coffee in the morning, followed by sandwiches like mortadella, pistachio & rocket; roasted carrots, sunflower seed & chimichurri; and jambon Prince de Paris, tarragon mustard mayo & cornichons, and salads like chickpeas, chard, preserved lemon & guindillas; and cavolo nero, Jerusalem artichokes, buttermilk, croutons & parmesan at lunchtime.

Come evening, Lasse will be serving up dishes such as gildas; devilled eggs with trout roe; beef tartare with pickled Jerusalem artichoke on toast; clams with Alsace bacon, Pernod & fennel; Parisian gnocchi with wild mushrooms & Perigord truffle; and creme caramel, to go with the wine list featuring bottles from Slovenia, Georgia, Beaujolais and Tuscany.

If you’re not able to stop for a drink or a bite to eat, you can take the best bits of Lulu’s home with you as the shop will be stocked with Llewelyn’s House Pickles, olives and cheeses from Neal’s Yard and Provisions, veg from Shrub Farm and Natoora, Honest Toil olive oil, Martelli pasta, Pump Street Chocolate, tinned seafood from The Tinned Fish Company and more. Sounds like a very strong addition to the fam.
