LIVE REVIEW: WOMANS HOUR

23RD SEPTEMBER 2014

Following a European tour supporting Metronomy, Woman’s Hour returned with their largest London show yet at Village Underground on 23rd September. The electro pop foursome are made up of captivating singer, Fiona Burgess, her brother Will (guitar), Nick Graves (bass) and Josh Hunnissett (keyboards). Originally from Kendall, Cumbria, the group formed and moved to London, and boy have they made an impression as they set off on their UK tour.

The backdrop of Village Underground was the perfect cosy yet atmospheric setting for this show with a vibrant light show and pyramids onstage in-keeping with their Conversations album artwork. Fiona’s dancing and vocal performance reflected like the disco ball overhead, spreading a spell over the audience. With the soothing simple style of the vocals on record, the live show really packed a surprising punch. From the sultry title track, Conversations, to the layered dance synths of The Day the Needs Defending, we were loving every second. With elements of Jessie Ware’s soothing yet vibrant live show and sexy synth goodness of Sade with a dollop of the XX, these are definitely worth checking out live!
