Having recently caught Swedish sister duo First Aid Kit float their folk meets pysch melodies over a glorious Sunday afternoon crowd at Glastonbury it felt even more of a treat seeing them in the intimate and enchanting setting of Somerset House.
Following the upbeat yet laid back sounds of cinematic pop band Milo Green, who warmed the crowd up ample with their dreamy Californian sounds, the sisters walked on to rapturous applause. The crowd were treated to live favourites such as ‘The Lion’s Roar’, ‘Emmylou’, ‘Blue’ and our fav ‘Wolf’. Clearly enjoying the atmosphere they engaged the crowd well, even when Klara dropped a clanger forgetting the first verse to a track, but was quickly reminded by sister Johanna much to the amusement of the audience. Other highlights include covers of a ‘song by a guy named Bob Dylan’ and Patti Smith.
It seems like if these girls played for hours anyone would happily watch and get lost within the stories they tell. A venue like Somerset House couldn’t have been more fitting…they have to be back next year surley?
