The mixed bunch at this Friday night affair in North London’s Koko weren’t in need of an energy surge, after a bizarre pre show dance off. Psychedelic pop band Coves hailing from Leamington Spa no less, greeted the crowd following Beck Wood’s lead, megaphone in hand.
Mid set the packed venue posed for a group shot #CC14 #clubNME #Camdencrawl before the recurrent riff of that one everyone knew kicked in. Some patterned synths, soft dreamy vocals and the Kate Bush moves combined for the ultimate crowd pleaser as ‘Cast a Shadow’ really brought the crowd to life.
Coves were in their element performing to this hyped up, Camden crawl crowd but their intoxicating sound and enchanting on-stage charisma did not come at the expense of rich vocals and captivating melodies. Coves are playing at The Secret Garden Party next month, get involved.
