Bad Egg out, Little Smoke in. Islington’s Smokehouse is getting a sister in the City, which’ll specialise in meat from native and rare breed animals sourced from independent farmers, and wines from family growers and co-ops. Veggies, you might want to give this one a miss. The daily changing menu will feature whatever’s been butchered that day over at Smokehouse, so you could be getting anything from pork belly to lamb chops to whole beef shin to the frankly mega sounding dino rib. Homemade sauces like beer mustard and gochujang mayo, and sides like burnt chilli greens and roasted sweet potato, feta and harissa will turn all that meat into a feast. And should you possibly manage to have room, there’ll be sticky toffee pudding, rum baba and chocolate hot pot for dessert. Bring on the meat sweats we say.
