Back for the first time since 2018, the London International Festival of Theatre will land in town this summer for two and a half weeks celebrating the arts and the fest’s 40th anniversary. Every two years, LIFT fills the city with thought-provoking theatre and unforgettable performances from around the world and this year will be no different.
Artistic Director Kris Nelson has curated a programme of progressive, innovative and eclectic acts for 2022 under the theme ‘Unexpected Perspectives’. Some highlights will include Sun & Sea, a Venice Biennale Golden Lion-winning Lithuanian Opera about climate change; Radio Ghost, an interactive ghost hunt through three of London’s shopping centres; a garden party in celebration of black activism at the Shipwrights House on the banks of the Thames in Deptford, hosted by Nest Collective from Kenya; and The Making of Pinocchio at the Battersea Arts Centre, which tells a true tale about love and transition. We may have missed out on LIFT 2020, but bring on 2022.
