the past few seasons, it’s clear that sportswear has been slowly moving into contemporary fashion and in particular, trainers. From racetrack to runway, the trainer has been continually modified to fit inside our everyday wardrobe.

Nike iD, the personalisation service from the brand, has joined forces with iconic British label Liberty to create a brand spanking new collection. For the first time ever, iD customers can now customise the classic Nike styles with Liberty prints.

Liberty has influenced British fashion since 1875, it’s known for its eclectic design, strong use of floral prints and carefree nature, a perfect match for Nike iD, who first collaborated with Liberty in 2011, decorating the infamous Blazer hi-tops. Three classic styles have been reinvented for Summer 13’. AirMax 1, Blazer Mid and cult favourite, Roshe Run. The outer surface of each trainer has been reupholstered in two of Liberty’s most famous prints, Pepper and Capel.

The AirMax 1 was born in 1987, and from day one, started a footwear revolution. 26 years later, the visible air vent and pioneering Air-Sole unit still offers unparallelled impact protection. In the Pepper print, this ditsy floral gives the AirMax 1 a true vintage feel. Originally designed for Liberty in 1974 by Jack Prince, the print features tiny shapes with a delicate outline to create an all-over multi print.

The Blazer Mid was first seen on the basketball court in 1972. The style has become a modern day icon, still featuring the classic swoosh. Seen in the Capel print, the Blazer Mid goes back to its roots in true psychedelic style. The Capel print is a 1978 original of muted florals on an ink blot background. Cult classic Roshe Run is a track star which offers both style and substance. Ultra light, breathable and cushioned, the Roshe Run gives any wearer a personal fit. Usually clean and simple, it’s fab to see such bold prints on these classics.

Not just for the girls, the guys too can customise their Nikes using the iD website online and in store at Liberty. The Liberty prints are only available for a limited time, so get online and start designing your personalised iDs now before its too late, these seriously are a staple for your summer, beats gladiator sandals any day in our eyes, god remember that trend!
