He’s already got a hit on his hands with Salon and now Nicholas Balfe is heading from Brixton to Peckham to open Levan. The new all-day spot will be all about modern European food and natural wines, with day the menu including fresh baked pastries and sourdough tartines for breakfast, and potato, chanterelle and Vacherin pies and fig and goat’s cheese salads for lunch. For dinner, expect plates like comte fries with saffron aioli, smoked pollack with asparagus and vin jaune, and 50-day aged rump cap with wild garlic aioli and grilled calçots. Drinks-wise, the restaurant will have London’s most extensive selection of wine from Jura in France as well as cocktails made with botanicals from the kitchen garden. Not only does the food and drink sound great, like Salon there’ll a big focus on sustainability and zero-waste too.
