LEGARE TO OPEN IN LONDON BRIDGE

Chris Leach and David Carter have done it for 10 Heddon Street, Marc Summers and Helen Graham have done it for Bubala, and now Jay Patel (former Barrafina and Koya City GM) and chef Matt Beardmore (ex-Trullo) are teaming up to open new neighbourhood Italian joint Legare in London Bridge. The restaurant will be all about seasonal produce, fresh pasta and low-intervention wine.

The regularly changing menu, made up of antipasti, handmade fresh pasta and desserts, will draw inspiration from across Italy and the Med. Antipasti will include dishes like day boat crudo and fett’unta of goats curd & sobrasada, while on the dessert front there’s fresh hand-filled cannoli.

Fresh pastas will be the star of the show, however, and will include tajarin with burro e salvia; orecchiette with fennel sausage & swiss chard ragu; stracci with crab, chilli & pangrattato; and a sharing size whole Scottish lobster taglierini.

All of that will be complemented by tight wine list of natural and low intervention bottles, mainly coming from Italy. And if you spy a bottle you really like or you take a fancy to the olive oil, Legare will also be selling some products for you to take home.

In the mood for Italian food right now? These are the restaurants we rate.
