Learn the Art of Japanese Pickling at Koya City

The Bloomberg Arcade restaurant is hosting a one-off masterclass that’s all about pickling

With its collection of eight restaurants, Bloomberg Arcade has become a hotspot for food in the City. But it’s not just somewhere to eat and drink, it’s a place where you can roll up your sleeves and check out the restaurants like never before.

As well as being one of the best places to get udon in London, Koya is known for its take on traditional Japanese dishes (and English ones too – the fried egg, bacon and shiitake porridge with miso soup is its version of an English breakfast). And now you can learn some of the restaurant’s secrets with this masterclass on Japanese pickling at Koya City. Led by Koya’s in-house expert Aki Henderson, the session will teach you the art of Japanese pickling and the techniques behind it.

You’ll get to make your own pickles to take home with you, so it’s properly hands-on, and you’ll also try five different types of Japanese pickle that the Koya team produces alongside rice and miso. Tickets for the masterclass cost £21, which include the workshop led by Aki, two jars of pickles to take home, recipe cards so you can make them again AND the pickle sampling menu, which is pretty mega value for money.
