Layla Bakery in Ladbroke Grove, founded by Tessa Faulker in 2021, has become one of the most beloved bakeries in town, attracting locals and those from further afield to Portobello Road for its sourdough breads, bow tie pastries, cardamom buns, banana tahini loaves, miso buns, burnt honey tarts, sausage rolls, BLT sandwiches and more. And with a branch of the bakery recently opening in Acton, Layla is going from strength to strength.

Of course the bakery will be doing mince pies for the festive season, and you find out exactly how they’re made at these exclusive mince pie making masterclasses at the Portobello Road site. During the sessions, led by Layla’s Exec Baker Colton Dinner, you’ll lean how to assemble a mince pie, including lining the pie dishes and adding the mince meat filling, before baking them, all whilst enjoying a glass of wine. You’ll then get your freshly baked mince pies to take away, along with a recipe card and a jar of Layla mince meat so you can make another batch at home.
