LDNERS | SACRED GOLD

Once a former Victorian coal store in the middle of King’s Cross, now a buzzing new shopping and dining district, there’s a lot to discover in Coal Drops Yard. Who better to get the inside scoop on the area from than some of the people, brands and businesses that call Coal Drops Yard home? We spoke to Nicole from Sacred Gold about body piercing, bespoke jewellery and where to get the best acai bowl in Coal Drops Yard.

So, what is Sacred Gold and what do you do there?

My name is Nicole, and I am one of the body piercers here at Sacred Gold. I select and style jewellery, perform body piercings, help select jewellery and design for our studio collection, and also design special and bespoke pieces for our clients. At Sacred Gold, we offer a high-end service from beginning to end. The studio is not only gorgeously decorated and styled, the piercing rooms are state-of-the-art and designed by us for the safest and most comfortable piercing experience. Our piercers and jewellery specialists will completely guide you through the jewellery selection and styling, offer their expert advice and experience, and personally curate your ears and other piercings. It is a unique, and caring experience. We are known internationally for being the largest European stockist of Body Vision Los Angeles (BVLA) fine piercing jewellery.

Tell us about all the amazing gems you have at Sacred Gold.

We do indeed. An insane collection. I wear all white gold, and my current setup features amethyst, ruby, black diamond, and mystic topaz. I am lusting after the Firefly in white gold with black diamonds currently, plus the Kiss Of Death dagger with a marquise-cut garnet dangle. Killer. My personal favourites to stare at would be the Panaraya cluster we have just received, that showcases the most stunning and colourful AAA Grade Opals I have ever seen. I CANNOT get over it. My favourite cabinet, however, is definitely the coloured gemstone cabinet – it’s a total treasure trove of genuine gemstones of all cuts and colours. I am an absolute magpie for it.

You also offer a bespoke service which sound exciting, can tell us more about that?

Absolutely! Who wouldn’t want their very own specially created piece designed for them and with their own personal details? To wear in a body piercing, carried with them always, no less. Custom pieces can range from £150 and upwards. Certain spectacular custom pieces we have created for clients have been £1500 and above. A notable piece would be the lovely Ashley cluster, which I designed with both my client, Ashely, and the owner of BVLA. We had it made with lovely shades of pink sapphires, as they are her birthstone and pink is her favourite colour. This beauty now is at home in her ear, and we are thinking of another piece to compliment it now. Another wonderful bespoke creation was the custom Palm Tree charms for my client Dorota, which have specially tiny details as nods to the rest of her curated jewellery arrangement we have been working on the last couple of years. I recently had a little charm made by BVLA for myself – a Bat, on a 5mm chain – that I wear attached to a classic seam ring. I adore it. I have more bespoke pieces for myself in the works. We LOVE that we have the ability to make the jewellery of our dreams, for our body piercing clients. It’s truly incredible.

If you could live out your dream day in Coal Drops Yard, how would this go?

Oh how I love working in Coal Drops Yard. I would head over to Redemption Roasters for morning coffee, head straight on up to Sacred Gold and drool over the BVLA beauties we have in studio and ponder a piercing. I love Earl OF East and their gorgeous homeware, so I’d head across and pick up some incense and candles. On the ground level, I’d definitely hit up Wolf & Badger for neat stationery and vintage clothing treasures. Score the best acai bowl (gotta be the PB&J) or maybe even homemade soup at Raw Press, and pick up a dried floral bouquet at Edie Rose.
