We’ve FRYHARD, the latest pop-up from Miss Cakehead (who also made THOSE cakes) for months now and so whilst she’s over at Boxpark deep frying the ass of everything we thought we’d make her this week’s Londoner.been banging on about
Where do you live in London and why?
I live on the magical Columbia Road – it’s the perfect location for me. Quiet as a church mouse during the week (I work from home) yet it comes to life every Sunday. Over Christmas I got home at 4am to discover Narnia outside my front door with 100’s of Christmas Trees there – it was very confusing!
You have done some CRAZY events, what was the best one you worked on?
I loved creating the blood filled swimming pool for Resident Evil Revelations (Capcom) so much – it is an event which was never held as it was cancelled due to breaking news 10 mintues before it was meant to open. It was bloody brilliant – I want to make sure it happens one day.
The next event, Fry Hard is coming up, what’s going down there?
It’s a Messhead project – the company I run with Jim Thomlinson of London Mess. We’re basically deep frying 100 items and serving them up. Thursday (2nd April) to Sunday. Most random but fun Easter ever!
How did you get to become Miss Cakehead, what’s the story?
It was my blogging name for years (I had over 5 million hits before I retired my blog). I became fed up with PR companies naff suggestions of having a ‘face’ to front campaigns so I decided to invent an alter ego we could use instead. Miss Cakehead is a very very different person to Emma – Jim says he can see when I suddenly turn into her!
Finally what would your perfect day in London entail?
Breakfast at Dishoom, louning about around the Shoreditch House pool in the sun, lunch at Andina. Importanltly this is followed disco snooze (I love naps) then head off out on my favourite ‘crawl’ of Sager & Wilde, The Sun Tavern, Supper at Mission then cocktails at Satan’s Whiskers. I am so lucky to have all these incredible places within walking distance. I hope to make it to Duck & Waffle for brunch one day soon too.
