Picture is out on Great Portland Street and Laboratorio Pizza is moving in. The new Fitzrovia site is the second (the original is on Brick Lane) for restaurateur Ivan Simeoli, who trained under Massimo Bottura at the three-Michelin-starred Osteria Francescana, so you can bet he knows his stuff.
The new Laboratorio Pizza will serve up the same traditional Neapolitan pizzas made with San Marzano tomatoes, fior di latte cheese and other Italian ingredients like Calabrian ‘nduja and Taggiasca olives. As well as classic combos like Italian sausage & broccoli, ragu & parmesan and mortadella & pesto, Laboratorio will also offer pizza fritta – yep DEEP FRIED pizza – with pork crackling, ricotta and provola. And if that wasn’t enough, they’re bringing in a brunch menu too…we’re really hoping that means breakfast pizza.
