The Dorchester Collection hotel has just become one of only two places in the UK where you can get a La Prairie facial, and we were first through the door to try it.
45 Park Lane has landed La Prairie as its new spa partner, and with it, a menu of exclusive treatments you can currently only get here and at its sister hotel, The Dorchester, next door.
We booked in for the signature Contour and Sculpt Facial, 60 minutes built around La Prairie’s Skin Caviar formulations, paired with a sculpting fingertip lifting massage and warm sculpting stones. It starts with a proper skin consultation, multi-zonal, so the treatment gets adapted to what your skin actually needs rather than a one-size-fits-all facial. From there you’re guided into one of three sensory concepts, Lakes, Mountains or Forests, each built out through scent, sound and touch to match the Swiss landscapes La Prairie takes its cues from.
The results were exactly what you want from a facial with this kind of price tag attached, skin left smoother, lifted and revitalised. The kind of skin that doesn’t need a make-up or social media filter applied.
Beyond the treatment room, the spa floor alone is worth the visit. There’s a proper lap pool, sauna, steam room and a massive chill-out zone all tucked away underground with the changing rooms, so you forget entirely that Park Lane traffic is happening a few floors above you. In this heat, it’s about as good a reason as any to disappear into a basement in Mayfair for an afternoon.
