We’d just spent seven weeks in Thailand having near‑daily massages – to the point we felt like well‑marbled cuts of wagyu – so expectations were high. This one more than held its own. We booked the two‑hour traditional Thai massage, which is the real deal – full of stretches, pressure points and rhythmic movement – but done on a massage table rather than a floor mat, saving the therapist’s knees (apparently a big issue in Thailand as they spend so long knelt on the floor) and keeping the whole thing that bit more comfortable.
Before you start, you’re asked to choose your pressure on a five‑point scale, from light to “strong (may cause bruising).” It’s an honest warning – this isn’t a fluffy spa rub‑down. The deeper settings go in hard, but honestly, with the hours we all spend hunched over laptops and phones, we probably deserve it. The therapist works from head to toe, mixing palm presses with elbow and thumb work, switching between firm stretches and slower, restorative moments until your body finally gives in.
Two hours sounds long on paper but slips by quickly, a mix of intensity and calm that leaves you equal parts limber and spaced out. Alongside the traditional Thai, there are oil massages, Thai foot reflexology and mix‑and‑match options for those who’d rather ease in gently.
